Opening Reception: 6-8 p.m., Friday, July 22, 2011

Jamie Paul Kessler is a Beaumont artist, adjunct art professor at Lamar University and art teacher at Fletcher Elementary School. Kessler began collecting German pottery four to five years ago and since then the collection has grown to between 600 and 800 pieces, many of which he displays in his Beaumont home on a rotating basis. The exhibition will consist of multiple groupings of the German pottery that address various highly unique stylistic traits. Some of these will include an intellectual series from the 1970s containing a geometric op art design, brightly colored German pop art pottery from the 1960s, and an unusual style that emerged in the 1970s featuring nature inspired motifs such as rocks, reptile skins, fungi, and wood grain.
