AMSET presents Moments on view through April 21, 2013 in AMSET’s Café Arts, featuring artwork from local artist, Cynthia Fontenot.
Cynthia Courville-Fontenot was born in Mamou, Louisiana. She was raised in the farming community of Reddell surrounded by rice fields and sky. She graduated with a Bachelor of Interior Design and a Minor in Architectural History from Louisiana State University. In 1984 she married and moved to Beaumont, and, now lives in Mauriceville with her husband and three daughters.
Cynthia paints in oil, watercolor, and acrylic. She has studied professionally with Ruth Orr, Jerry Newman, Al Gaytan, Shirley Peel, and Frank Gerrietts.
Finding inspiration in ordinary objects, her subjects include still life, landscape, and people that she crosses in her daily life. As she develops her paintings, they evolve into expressions of those experiences.
Moments is part of AMSET’s continued mission to feature local artists in Café Arts. The exhibition is open for viewing during regular museum hours: Monday through Friday: 9 am - 5 pm; Saturday: 10 am - 5 pm; Sunday: noon - 5 pm.
