AMSET presents Randy and Bryan Welborn: Moments to Remember, the artwork of father/son duo Randy and Bryan Welborn, in Café Arts June 2 through August 7.

This exhibition features 15 paintings from the Welborn’s nostalgic painting series Moments to Remember.

Randy, a native Southeast Texan who now resides in Kountze, captures life growing up in Beaumont during the 1950s.  Some of the old locations depicted in the paintings are the Jefferson Theatre, South Park Drive-In Theatre, Carnation Ice Cream Shop and the Pig Stand diner on Calder Avenue.  The series started in 1983 with Evening at the Jefferson. To create this unique body of work, the artist spent countless hours researching old newspapers and photographs in library archives to obtain the historical accuracy of a specific day and time during that period.

Welborn’s son, Bryan collaborated on several of the Moments to Remember series of paintings. To learn more about their artwork, visit the website www.randywelborn.com.
