03 Oct 2019
5:30 PM - 7:30 PM
Location

Joining in on the First Thursday fun downtown, AMSET stays open later and gives the community a chance to see its current exhibitions while enjoying great jazz!
AMSET's fall exhibit,
Prince Varughese Thomas: The Legacy of Narcissus
will be on view in the main galleries. Attendees will also have the opportunity to view
Craig Odle: Experiments and Evolution
on view in the Café Art Series for Local Artists, artist John Alexander's work on view in the West Hall, and work by artists Charmaine Locke and James Surls on view in the Conn Gallery.
AMSET is excited to welcome featured musician, Lonny Lalanne. Lonny has spent the last few decades playing over 300 days a year with some of America’s most famous jazz, rhythm & blues and Tejano musicians as well recording on numerous Grammy Award albums.
Some of the musicians Lonny has played and toured with are Willie Nelson, B.B. King, Archie Bell and Drells, Little Joe and the LaFamilia as well as playing with Ned Batista and the Houston Pops Orchestra.
Currently Lonny is a cast member and trumpet player of the show “Keeping Brassy” at the Music Box Theater in Houston.
Along with recording on Grammy Award albums, Lonny has been awarded “Trumpet Player of the Year” for the Tejano Academy Awards as well as being elected to the Tejano Music Hall of Fame.
Admission is free and open to the public. Wine and beer will be available for purchase and light refreshments will be offered.
