In celebration of its spring 2021 exhibition DELITA MARTIN: Conjure, the Art Museum of Southeast Texas has invited the Houston-based artist collective ROUX to speak at a virtual panel discussion at 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 20th. ROUX Collective includes Black artists Rabéa Ballin, Ann Johnson, Delita Martin, and Lovie Olivia. These four artists not only embrace and challenge conventions in medium, surface, and concept, but also apply unusual approaches to the processes of printmaking, installation, video, sculpture, and painting. During the panel discussion, ROUX members will discuss their individual and collective experiences as Black artists with a focus on how those experiences have shaped their artistic practices.
This program is made possible in part by a grant from Humanities Texas, the state affiliate of the National Endowment for the Humanities.
