Continuum-From Beaumont to San Miguel
. Award-winning artist Robert Brickhouse began his career at the age of three in his hometown Beaumont, Texas. After graduating from French High School, he began to hone his craft at Lamar University and the Texas Academy of Art, and from there began his career in commercial advertising as a graphic artist for
the Houston Post
as well as petroleum companies such as Exxon, Dowell Inc., and Brown and Root.
As a teacher of art at Sam Houston State University in Huntsville, Texas, he inspired hundreds of students to develop their skills and follow their dreams of becoming artists.
His work has been recognized with gold and silver medals from the Dallas, Denver and Houston Art Director’s Clubs; top awards from the Art League of Houston; and an Award of Excellence from the New York Society of Illustrators.
After a long career in the commercial advertising industry, he left to concentrate exclusively on fine art.
His paintings are included in the private collections of Charlie Thomas, the former owner of the Houston Rockets; actor Clint Eastwood; Brown and Root and Powell Co. a series of paintings for their Paris offices.
His work has been exhibited at the Meredith Long Gallery in Houston and Ra Luz and Lungundi galleries in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, where he has lived for 13 years.
